CÀRNA
56° 66' 14'' N, 5° 88' 37'' W
From the Gaelic 'càrn', meaning a pile of stones used to mark a standpoint or a burial and astronomic site, symbolising the link between the earth and the sky, death and life; from the Latin 'caro', meaning flesh and the name of a mythological nymph who tempted men and hid away before they could find her. She then became the goddess of hinges and viscera, especially heart and gut. The island of Càrna lies in Loch Sunart, an arm of the sea close to the peninsula, on the west coast of Scotland. The uninhabited isle is a fertile sanctuary for biodiversity that carries a wide range of native species from ancient wild flower meadows to dark honeybees. |
SISTERHOOD
A sisterhood of wild poet and mad artist, trying to excavate the gold mine of truth in a world that is increasingly afraid of it.
On this little island, made of open flesh and honest soil, we aim to provide nothing but truth: the anti-news of our age.
Our concoction of creativity + politics becomes a further manifesto of what the human existence can become.
